The second Positive Health Practitioner Training was held in Karuizawa.
A training program for positive health practitioners was planned in Japan and the Netherlands to learn about "positive health," a concept of health that has a major impact on education, architectural design, urban development, and medical welfare. The first training session was held in Karuizawa. The second session will be held in Fukui, and the third in the Netherlands. Our foundation is also providing partial funding for this program.

A commemorative photo with the certificate of completion given by Dr. Huber after completing their third training in the Netherlands. We look forward to the future development in Japan.

In the healthcare field, we must shift from the traditional focus on illness and care to self-management, e-health/prevention, and focus on a "meaningful life."

I accompanied a family doctor to the home of a patient in Afferden, Limburg. Using the "Spider Web" tool, I was able to communicate at length with the patient with a gentle smile.

The first and second Positive Health Training Courses in Japan were held at Orange Clinic in Fukui.

Machteld Huber(right) is visiting Japan for the first time. On the left is his interpreter and coordinator, Akane Chabot, who came with him. Huber enjoyed Japanese food during his stay.

The preparation of posters and handouts was also divided among the participants, and progress proceeded smoothly. Just before the start.

The group is limited to 15 people, and includes a variety of professions, including doctors, pharmacists, community nurses, physiotherapists, and academics.

Visit to Limburg with Orange Clinic members for training on "Positive Health"

The city hall we visited is a historic place where the treaty establishing the European Union (the Maastricht Treaty) was signed on February 7, 1992.

The province of Limburg has been working on creating new communities since 2016 based on the concept of positive health. This visit from Japan was introduced on their website.

Two students from Maastocht University who are sympathetic to the concept of positive health and actively involved in state projects explained some examples of their initiatives.

Dutch family physician Mahtold Huber proposed a new concept of health in 2011. His idea is that health is "the ability to adapt when faced with social, physical and emotional problems and to manage them on one's own initiative." This is a concept that sees health as an "ability" rather than a static "state." This concept sees "health" as the ability to move forward in life positively without becoming discouraged, even if one is ill or disabled, with the support of medical care and nursing care. Above all else, it values the individual's initiative and appeals to what is important to them and what gives them meaning in life.

Huber named this concept "Positive Health" and developed it further into a tool (radar chart) called the "Spider Web" consisting of six dimensions of health. The Spider Web tool is a dialogue tool that helps to deepen the understanding of patients and medical professionals.

What the Whale Monument in Utrecht Wants to Communicate
This whale is made from 5 tons of waste plastic collected from the ocean. There are also plastic baskets with Japanese writing here and there. 150,000,000 tons of waste plastic in the world's oceans. It's time for each of us to think about this in our daily lives from the perspective of SDGs.
